Taarbæk Kro
Some designs don’t arrive—they belong.
Some pieces of design feel like they’ve always belonged—even before they arrive.
The J39 chair is one of those.
Its timeless simplicity, its honest craftsmanship, and now, in three custom colors—soft rose, sea blue, and deep green—it has found its place at Taarbæk Kro.
Created in close collaboration with Thomas and Rasmus Gravesen from @fredericiafurniture, these shades were born from the soul of the inn—echoes of faded florals, ocean air, and forest walks.
Thank you for understanding not just what we needed, but what we dreamed of.

When vision meets someone who can elevate it
Once in a while, you are fortunate enough to meet a person who has the rare ability to understand and share a creative vision. Such a person is Vibeke Fonnberg Schmidt. She doesn’t stop at simply seeing and understanding—she multiplies the whole. She adds, adjusts, refines, and elevates the idea, creating beauty in an entirely new dimension.
Vibeke’s light art—her chandeliers and wall lights—are not just functional objects, but living sculptures. They glow with emotion, curiosity, and the essence of collaboration. Each piece reflects her intuitive grasp of light, space, and story, turning aroom into a gallery of dreams. Working with her is not just a partnership—it’s a transformation

A winter moment, transformed into craftsmanship
On a winter day at the harbour I came across the robe from a small boat it sparked the idea for the costumemade brass mirror that is placed in front of the window on every toilet at the Inn. The mirror are made with the help form Coppersmith Michael in Farum, next to the Glass lampes from @sklo – every bathroom has its special color matching the color of the birds that are hand-painted and fired on italien ceramictiles. Again only love and passion for outstanding Craftsmanship made possible by talented @marlenejørgensen. Thank you!

Ceramics at the heart of Taarbæk Kro
Taarbæk Kro is, in many ways, a reflection of years spent working closely with artists, designers, and exceptional craftsmen.
That spirit lives on here—not as a memory, but as a natural part of the place.
Ceramics play a quiet yet central role throughout the inn. The HAV series by Bjarke Ingels, Jens Martin Skibsted, and Lars Holme Larsen brings a sense of clarity and rhythm, beautifully accompanied by pieces from Bornholms Keramikfabrik.
Together, they create a tactile story of form, function, and tradition.
Some of my own ceramic pieces have also found their place here—simple in expression, yet shaped by the same dedication to craftsmanship.
At Taarbæk Kro, everything connects—past and present—through materials, hands, and shared passion.
